What's included

What Construction Waste Clearance Includes

Every building project produces waste, and the faster it leaves site the safer and tidier the site stays. Construction waste clearance takes that problem off your hands: we collect the waste, keep the different materials apart, remove them to the right facilities and give you the paperwork to prove it was handled properly.

We arrange skips or grab lorries to suit the volume and the access on your site, priced per load or by the tonne. Waste is segregated as it is loaded rather than tipped as one mixed load. That matters, because mixed waste costs more per tonne to dispose of than separated streams, and clean inert material such as concrete and brick is cheaper still.

Hazardous waste, including asbestos, cannot be mixed with general construction waste. It needs separate arrangements under the hazardous waste rules and is priced separately.

Who it's for

Who Our Waste Clearance Is For

Our waste clearance is a trade service for construction and commercial sites. We work for main contractors, developers, fit-out and refurbishment firms, landlords and facilities managers, clearing the waste generated by building, strip-out and demolition work.

It suits sites where waste is building up between phases, projects where other trades have left material behind, and landlords clearing units at the end of a lease. If you are clearing household rubbish from a home, a domestic rubbish removal service will usually suit you better.

Your responsibilities

Your Duty of Care as a Waste Producer

Many clients do not realise that responsibility for waste does not end when it leaves the site. Under the waste duty of care, anyone who produces or handles waste must take reasonable steps to make sure it is managed and disposed of properly. If waste you produced is fly-tipped by an unregistered carrier, you can be held responsible.

In practice, the duty comes down to three things:

  • Use a registered waste carrier. Anyone can check a carrier on the Environment Agency's public register of waste carriers before handing waste over.
  • Describe the waste accurately, so it goes to a facility that can lawfully accept it.
  • Keep the paperwork. Waste transfer notes must be kept for at least two years, and consignment notes for hazardous waste for three.

The government's waste duty of care code of practice sets out the full requirements. We are a registered waste carrier and supply a waste transfer note with every load, so you have the records you need.

If your waste is fly-tipped by an unregistered carrier, you can be held responsible.

Recycling

Segregation and Recycling

Separating waste on site is the single biggest thing that keeps disposal costs down and recycling rates up. We keep the main construction waste streams apart as they are loaded:

  • Metals, including ductwork, cable, studs and steel, go to metal recycling.
  • Timber from joinery, packaging and formwork is separated for recovery.
  • Plasterboard and gypsum must be kept separate from general waste and is recycled.
  • Brick, concrete and hardcore can be crushed and reused as aggregate.
  • Mixed general waste is kept to what genuinely cannot be separated.

Our target is 95% or more of waste diverted from landfill. Because inert material is charged at lower rates than mixed waste, good segregation is usually cheaper as well as greener.

How it works

How Our Waste Clearance Works

  1. Tell us what & how much

Describe the waste and roughly how much there is. Photos help us judge the volume and the mix.

  2. We arrange collection

We arrange the right skip or grab lorry for the volume, access and parking on your site, and agree timing with you.

  3. Loading & segregation

Waste is loaded and kept in separate streams, with anything hazardous identified and set aside for separate arrangements.

  4. Removal & paperwork

Each load is taken to the appropriate facility, and you receive a waste transfer note for every load.

Frequently asked questions

Waste Clearance FAQs

Do you collect construction waste from sites in London?

Yes. We collect construction and strip-out waste from sites across London and the South East, arranging skips or grab lorries to suit the access, and planning around congestion and parking.

Do you supply waste transfer notes?

Yes, for every load. They are your record that the waste was handed to a registered carrier and taken to an appropriate facility, and they should be kept for at least two years.

Can you take hazardous waste or asbestos?

Hazardous waste and asbestos cannot be mixed with general construction waste. They need separate arrangements and are priced separately. Asbestos removal itself must be carried out by a suitably licensed contractor where required.

Is it cheaper to separate construction waste?

Usually, yes. Inert material such as concrete and brick is charged at lower rates than mixed waste, and segregated metals and timber can be recycled. Separating waste on site is the most effective way to reduce disposal costs.

Do you clear household rubbish?

No. Our waste clearance is a trade service for construction and commercial sites. For household rubbish, a domestic clearance service will usually be a better fit.
